Last night went pretty well. I actually had some chicken soup with rice (although only a little of the rice went down and none of the chicken could make it past the teeth). It wasn't enough, so I had an Ensure just to make sure I got enough calories. I stayed up until around 21:30 watching a PBS special on Duke Ellington that was presented, I think, by Winton Marsellis, the famous trumpeteer. Pretty good show. Anyway, I climbed into bed and tried to use some meditation (Jedi techniques, don't you know). I actually think it worked to some extent. I visualized some virtual (or spiritual, if you prefer) fingers not so gently massaging my jaws from the inside. I say not so gently only because I could "see" things acting rubbery, but it didn't hurt. Where ever the fingers touched, it felt better. I had a different technique for the upper and lower jaw. All of this was supposed to help me get to sleep. Alas, no matter what I did, it didn't work. I "talked" with Becky a bit and eventually she feel asleep. I tried an even older technique: a book on the toilet. I did get some good reading in, but by the time toilet-butt had set in, I was no closer to sleep. I did lay in bed some more, but eventually, around 01:00 I got up and downed another dose of the pain meds. The sensation is getting more different each time, but I certainly fell asleep at one point. I woke up to Becky getting up this morning, but laid in bed, semi-conscious until 12:45 if you can believe it! I got up and drank a little water to help things start out then had a SlimFast (chocolate) for breakfast. I then came right to the bedroom and took these pictures, before my morning shower, and caught up on my e-mail, etc.
Had a doctors appointment this afternoon and here I am sitting in the examining chair.
Some good news from that vist is that:
Other than that, not too much occured. Becky did make one comment after seeing me in those jeans (which are my oldest and usually tightest): she said I no longer had a butt. It's gone. I guess that's not all too bad, because I always thought it was a little bubbly, but Becky assures me she wants it back! :)
We did make a swing by a Smoothie King on the way home and I had a 32oz. Strawberry shake with weight-gain added. It was good!
I also had two other firsts today:
